Compiled wine 0.9.7 yesterday with the latest patch applied (see bottom of first post). WoW runs fine for me. The only thing I had problems with was the new nvidia drivers which made my graphics card spit out a signal the monitor refused to display so I had to downgrade them to 8174.

Hello,

Just as a note, i got WoW running with wine-0.9.6 + patch. I m posting here for another matter : i m still experiencing critical lags, and i wonder if my firewall rules are responsible for that ?

I gotta tell you man, I don't think it's your compy.. WoW has been lagging like crazy for me the past two weeks. It's always laggy, sometimes, to the point where I wait a good two minutes before my character makes a potion or even takes a step.

Try another game and see if you get the same lag. If not, most likely, it's not your compy. If it was your firewall, I don't think you'd even be able to play - you wouldn't be able to connect.

Just my opinion.

I really don't want to make a new topic for this, so here goes my problem:

it's relatively minor, but running WoW with wine, the only thing i can't seem to get working are numpad keybindings.

the numpad works fine in chat (123456789etc) but when i TRY to bind a key to the numpad, it oftentimes fails, and when it does succeed, pressing the button seems to do nothing (though a blue outline does appear on the action bar button i mapped it to).

any other keybindings work fine, it's just the numpad that seems to be broken )=

I'm using 0.9.7 and the patch posted in this thread but I'm still having problems with getting WoW to run properly. In OpenGL it runs fine and looks great, but it crashes a lot. Mostly if I go underwater it will instantly crash with that 132 error, and it does it randomly sometimes as well. DirectX looks terrible, runs slower, but doesn't crash as often, although it will sometimes randomly 132 as well. Nothing has changed from 0.9.6 to 0.9.7 in terms of how it's crashing. I'm using an ATI card with drivers version 8.21.7. I've tried some of the older drivers but that doesn't do anything to fix the problem.

Is anyone else having similar problems or were you able to fix it?

What desktop are you using when you play? My friend and I use KDE, and we've both found that for unknown reasons, the keyboard tends to freeze/lockup, or it loses 'focus' somehow, and the only thing you can type is the forward slash - very odd. However, after some careful keyboard 'hacking', we found that if you CTRL+ALT+F# (1-6), and then back to X, you get your keyboard totally back, which is kind of whacky. Why it does this, we're not certain yet, but switching to console and back seems to remedy the problem.

By the way, if anyone's interested, I help run a whacky and fun Rogue guild on Emerald Dream. Yes, we PvP and RP, and we're a bunch of loonyies who tell sick jokes in guild chat all day. Send a /tell to Shingo.

:-)

Off-topic: I am looking for the code to get Murky (the baby murloc pet) , have you got it ? I know it was given to attendees of Blizzcon in US, but if you are one of those lucky player, think how many baby murlocs you could save by giving your code to players among all realms
If it was me, i would log into every realm to make murloc survival possible

B1F30: I use Ion3 as window manager

Is there a Blizzcon visitor here with gift card giving you pass/code for the murloc pet ?
I would love to get one, and i am pretty sure the code is still valid on other realms (french for me)

Anyone else getting crash-on-load problems with the game after patching with the game patch that was released this evening?

Code: Select all

X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 143 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 13 (X_GLXCreateGLXPixmap)
Serial number of failed request: 412
Current serial number in output stream: 413
It looks like the same error that people were getting before, but I didn't get it with stock 0.9.7 before this patch. I kept a copy of the WoW before the current patch and it runs perfectly. The error happens only when running -opengl, by the way.

Errors

Post by mci_nano » Wed Feb 08, 2006 7:53 am

Maybe that helps some of you:

In the beginning my WOW crashed sometimes while I tried to enter a house or hole(maybe reason was the minimap). But as i switched my X Config from 16 to 24 Depth it worked...

On my side everything is working great, except that the game takes ages to load things at times, and i am not sure wether server lags are for something in this issue. I put it on the behalf of memory at first, but it might also be caused by the sound problem in a way that i can t grasp (explanation ? )

Sometimes it seems to take forever to load when I join and leave battlegrounds, but friends using windows and macos have the long loading time too so it is most likely server lag if stuff loads fine most of the time for you.

Newly broken wow patch?

Post by Koradji » Wed Feb 08, 2006 9:46 pm

wine 0.9.7 ebuild in portage overlay, with this patch added:
ftp://anch.org/pub/linux/wine/wow.patch
worked great.
Until now. I can't get in.

After login a message flashes very briefly about "submitting non-personal information" then "downloading" and the screen starts flickering lots. if i run in a window, the window simply goes black instead. X doesn't crash.

Any ideas anyone?

I never used 0.9.6, and 0.9.7 worked just fine.
I will try changing to an older wine version, however, as you seem to suggest that wow still works for you.

Edit:
Tried 0.9.5 patched as i was using before, according to the gentoo wiki. used to work well. now still stops at/after the "submitting" screen.
Will try 0.9.6
This is happeneing on two seperate computers, one amd64, one amd 32 bit. Both worked fine after the tuesday patch.

It's really weird. i didn't change anything.
It worked fine after the tuesday patch. (well, sort of fine, as much as disconnects and server restarts permit)
and then it stopped working. on two systems.

trying reinstalling WoW.
