If I start something on one side of the cube and rotate it, the window will automaticly move so that part of it is on the new side.
Is there a solution to this, or do I have to wait for a new release?
If you overlap a window across one of the edges of the cube, it won't follow you round. You could overlap the window by one pixel, but I imagine that would get tedious.

Updating Xgl again... [edit] Urgh, doesn't work. I'm going to bed.

You can use "Xgl" instead of "X" in kdm, for istance.
I'm using this way, and it works fine :)

i had already mesa 6.4.2 and recompiled it wit the patches... now my xorg has no direct rendering anymore :(

glxinfo |grep direct
direct rendering: No

before the patches it was yes...

but xorg loads the dri :

cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log |grep direct
(0): direct rendering: Enabled

and i had also the same compile errors. when i understand it i must apply some of these patches http://cvs.freedesktop.org/mesa/Mesa/sr ... te#dirlist and continue emerging?
how to do that... sorry im dumb :) patching is not my hobby :D

I recompiled latest mesa and xgl from cvs, but now when I'm trying to run glxcompmgr i get this error:

Code: Select all

$ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/ glxcompmgr shadow fade wobbly
glxcompmgr: GLX_MESA_render_texture is missing
glxcompmgr: Failed to manage screen: 0
glxcompmgr: No managable screens found on display :0.0
I also tried recompiling glxcompmgr but it didn't help.
Any ideas how to fix that?

You are not linking xgl against ati or nvidias own graphic drivers but to the mesa which currently doesn't support XGL.
You need to supply the LD_LIBRARY_PATH=Path/to/flgrx/or/nvidia/libGL.*

I tried using LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/ but still got the same error.
Besides, LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/ has worked before, except for the "black windows" -bug.

The_Ace, stop coming out with that rubbish! Xgl requires the propriatry drivers, but glxcompmgr requires a patched Mesa. The missing extention is "GLX_MESA_render_texture"!!!!

pussi, did you apply the patches to Mesa CVS?

Yes, except mesa-glx-x11-get-drawable-attribs-fix-1.diff and xgl-mesa-stable-180106.diff which seems to be applied in cvs

Sorry, guess I've misunderstood it all.

Sorry after writing a long post, I remembered reading that GLX_MESA_render_texture isn't needed any more, and has been replaced by GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap so glxcompmgr will need to be updated, or we'll need to start using compiz. (Or you can just use a patched mesa 6.4.2)

edit: Sorry for that outburst, The_Ace!

/usr/local/portage/x11-base/xgl/xgl-20060118-r2.ebuild: line 49: --enable-xgl: command not found
?!?

edit:
I was just commenting out the --disable-xkb on the line above, forgot that it was one continuous line - my bad

Code: Select all

libxgl.a(xglcmap.o): In function `xglInitVisuals':
xglcmap.c:(.text+0x6d9): undefined reference to `glitz_find_drawable_format'
xglcmap.c:(.text+0x903): undefined reference to `glitz_find_pbuffer_format'

libxgl.a(xglsync.o): In function `xglPrepareTarget':
xglsync.c:(.text+0x804): undefined reference to `glitz_create_drawable'
Anyone ran into this when emerging xgl-20060118-r2 with the patches mentioned on page 10 of this thread to the patch files?

edit: Solved - didn't have the cvs glitz installed
