no sound from headphones (intel-hda - alsa)

I installed alsa 1.0.10 and 1.0.10-r1 today. Both versions work well with the internal speakers of my notebook.
It is a Asus A6VA with a intel-hda soundchip. This is what lspci says:

When I stick in my headphones the internal speakers turn of but the headphones make no sound. I am sure that the headphones are ok.
Any Ideas how to fix this problem?

run 'alsamixer' and make sure that the headphone socket isn't muted?

There is no headphone socket.
