Emerge goes into a loop

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

Emerge goes into a loop

Hi. A couple of installs have now failed..or never finishes, since emerge seems to go into a loop of some kind. I have no idea whats going on, so Ill just pass some of the output here:

This was an install of MPD that went on during the whole night.

Code: Select all

cd . && /bin/sh ./config.status Makefile depfiles
config.status: creating Makefile
config.status: executing depfiles commands
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/mpd-0.11.5/work/mpd-0.11.5/src/libid3tag'
make[3]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/mpd-0.11.5/work/mpd-0.11.5/src/libid3tag'
cd . && /bin/sh ./config.status Makefile depfiles
config.status: creating Makefile
config.status: executing depfiles commands
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/mpd-0.11.5/work/mpd-0.11.5/src/libid3tag'
make[3]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/mpd-0.11.5/work/mpd-0.11.5/src/libid3tag'
cd . && /bin/sh ./config.status Makefile depfiles
config.status: creating Makefile
config.status: executing depfiles commands
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/mpd-0.11.5/work/mpd-0.11.5/src/libid3tag'
Heres another one:

Code: Select all

"config.status: creating Makefile
config.status: creating msvc++/Makefile
config.status: creating libmad.list
config.status: creating config.h
config.status: config.h is unchanged
config.status: executing depfiles commands
/bin/sh ./config.status"
They both just go in loops forever.
Thanks for all help

I guess we need to know the ouput of emerge --info.

Did you check the bugsite for any known ebuild issue with MPD ?

Hm, it seems that when I accedentally rebooted the server at 05:00 in the morning (wrote halt in wrong ssh session :p) made everything work again (the client is diskless and runs of the server located in my basement) ...
