This value is monitor specific, so you should be able to find it in the manual of your monitor (usually it's listed under technical specs or something). If you don't have a manual, check out the manufacturer's home page. Usually you can download manuals as PDF documents there. Or see if a simple Google search for your monitor model turns up any usable results.

The discussion above was very helpful to me a month or two ago. Like many others, I was able to resolve problems with some strange "washing" of the grey Xorg startup pattern and clean up the display by adding the following to my xorg.conf file:

Option "UseEdidFreqs" "false"
This worked well until just recently. I noticed on a reboot today that there is a bit of that "washing" again when X started. Has anyone else had a recent reoccurance of this problem? I'm thinking it must have something to do with a recent update (I have an x86_64 system). I'd appreciate any help, ideas, or suggestions!
