I can X as user, but not as super user

Hi, I had a perfectly working X, until I decided to do an emerge --world --deep. Now it only works when I'm logged in as user and not when I'm root. Why is this, and how can I help it. The errors given are, when launching X as su:
no matching device section for instance (bus ID PCI:1:0:1) found
symbol drmgetclient from module /usr/lib64/module/drivers/radeon_drv/o is unresolved
and
could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/local/ removing from list
I would expect I could launch anything as superuser if I could launch it as user.

Thank,
David (holland)

PS, if you'll need to see my xorg.conf an Xorg.0.log, I've got em here. I'll postem if it would help. Just say so.

Its the same here, but I have heard many people say that launching anything graphical from X as su can REALLY screw up your system. I also can't startx as su, but that's how I have learned Gentoo. Just Su when you start up your DE/WM and go from there.

Yep, I'm working from a beautifully working KDE right now and I'm very happy with it. It was just curiousity that I wanted to know why I couldn't launch X as su. I was hoping for a nice little story about permissions and so on. I'll just take your word for it that it isn't a good thing to run x as su and leave it by that.

Thanks for your reply!
