If you could provide a mirror with atleast 150 MB for this CD it would be great and strongly appreciated, we are limited to one mirror, that can be slow, unfortunately.

It won't boot on my Pentium 3 craptop, even with the noacpi option. It gets to loading kernel and just sits there.

enderandrew,
Hmm, That's odd, I know it boots on a pentium3 desktop - Can you post some more in depth hardware specs of it?

It is a Sony Vaio PCG-FX120

It has a Pentium III (Coppermine) 700 mhz, 320 megs of PC100, an Intel 815 chipset, a DVD-ROM, and that is about it.

It did boot your last LiveCD, but only with the ramdisk option, and acpi turned off.

It does boot the RR4 LiveCD with acpi turned off, but I don't have to turn on the ramdisk option.
Nihilism makes me smile.

Ok, I will look at the kernel, possibly change the max ramdisk size (to what rr4 uses) Conrad uses 8192 max ramdisk size, lxnay's dvds use double that - I will try changing that (I backed up the build environment for the livecd, I will work on it soon)

and I will make sure the noacpi option is setup correctly.

I am still a bit confused :?
Can I install a system with reiser4 partitions with this CD or do I need another kernel for this?

This CD has the nitro-sources kernel on it, so it should support Reiser4 out of the box. In fact, the Conrad install guide goes over installing a Reiser4/GCC 4 system with this LiveCD.

I've got a spare HD. I'll try this puppy. With the vesafb option I should be good to go. The other releases using vesa-tng hung my system. Will advise. Thanks.

Sorry :( I am only one guy - Amd64 will come with the 0.2.5 release :)

0.2.5 will include a bigger max ramdisk size in the kernel, the mis-informative splash removed, a motd, no man-pages, mplayer and alsa-driver/alsa-utils for music :), And updated world :)

cheater1034: Could you please patch your LiveCD with this kernel bugfix: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5221 . It's for notebook HP Compaq nx8220. It affects kernels from 2.6.13.1. The latest prepatch for kernel 2.6.15-rc5 has the bug solved. I would really appreciate if you could integrate this bug fix in the next release of your livecd. Thanx.

Have phun, Riplix.

Will do ;) Actually I may get away with a 2.6.15 prepatch and add the rest of my patches manually, like gentoo patches, reiser4, ck patches, etc.

Great, hopefully I will be final able to install Gentoo with all bleeding edge functions on this notebook. Do you have any plans about the date of release of the next LiveCD?

By next week, probally before even.

I plan on using the genkernel config (gentoo livecd) for a lot more compatibility and vanilla 2.6.14 with .15 prepatch, reiser4 patch, ck patches, gentoo patches...

It has to be delayed however, I planned on working on it as soon as I finished testing the final RC of lucky - well, my hda2/root partition got corrupt and I have to start all over :\ So I'm going to run the final, final test of it in vmware from windows (so I can have a break with music and games and stuff)

I should have it installed with KDE and all the tools I need for it by thursday, I will work on the new LiveCD over the weekend - Expect it probally late this weekend :)

i have a couple of requests. one i consider very important, the other is just a feature request ;)

the first one is that you add an option for nodma to the kernel. my cd-rom drives aren't dma, so i have to boot the cd from my slower dvd drive. someone without a drive that supports dma wouldn't even be able to boot the cd.

the other request is that you throw in the program pork. it wouldn't take much room and would let AIM addicts like myself pass the time while compiling.

thanks

I will look into nodma for 0.2.5 :) and to kill the time in current releases there is only irssi, the next one will include mplayer (for mp3's) and after your request, I will include "pork" :)

LiveCD 0.2.5 should be a lot better than the previous releases.

but, do you know if the genkernel config (Gentoo livecd) supports nodma? if so, I was planning on basing the new LiveCD off of the genkernel config, just with added features like my alsa modules for it, and reiser4, etc.

*EDIT*
I will add a 'nodma' option to isolinux, with the ide=nodma param. to make sure that nodma cdroms can boot
