ooffice syntax error

  • Quote

Post by Werdna » Fri Apr 18, 2003 11:17 pm

I apologize if this question has already been posted, but I couldn't find it searching the forums.

I just compiled OpenOffice.org 1.0.3 using emerge openoffice, and it finished without errors. My problem now is that, although all the appropriate entries were made in my KDE menu, clicking on any OO program won't start it. I tried starting all of them in a terminal, and it seems that there's a syntax error in the script.

Code: Select all

here root # ooffice
+ ooffice
/usr/bin/ooffice: line 206: syntax error near unexpected token `)'
/usr/bin/ooffice: line 206: `   oopadmin) exec "$OOHOME/spadmin"'
I am not very knowledgable about shell scripting, and I'd much rather use a source-compiled OO rather than the binary package. Thank you in advance for any help.

I too am having the same problem. I had issues getting OO1.0.3 working on my desktop just it just turned out being .sversionrc wasn't being updated properly.

This problem occurs on my laptop and is definetly not the same issue.

If I have some time tomorow maybe I'll file a bug report.

Any work arounds?

Ok, I looked at the /usr/bin/ooffice on my desktop machine and its a different script. so I copied the scripts from my desktop machine to my laptop machine and presto-chango it worked.

Heres a link to a tarball of the scripts that worked for me if anyone wants to download then and try em out. I guarantee nothing hehe.

I was getting the same error. It turns out that the problem was with the /usr/bin/oosetup script. You'll need to edit the file as root and change lines 204-208 to the following:

Code: Select all

case `basename $0` in
        oosetup) exec "$OOHOME/setup";;
        oopadmin) exec "$OOHOME/spadmin";;
        *) exec "$OOHOME/soffice" "$@";;
esac
They appear before the Changelog section.

You also need to remove the ~/.openoffice and ~/.sversionrc directories.

I sent a bug report. Hopefully they can get it out quick.
