Python 2.4 Error - WxPython error

Hi,

I recently did an "emerge --update world" and now I am getting the error : WxPython not found or not installed.

I have run the "python-updater" and moved from python2.3 to python2.4 but am still getting the error when running bittornado.

Anyone else having this problem ? What could be the problem ?

Thanks. I'll try it out later. Will inform if this works or not.
Question though : what's the difference between WxPython and normal Python. I thought that WxPython was the port for MS Windows OS. I'm running Gentoo, so why is it asking for WxPython ? Shouldn't the two be compatible ?

A quick look at the project itself is generally informative.

For me the fix was the same as during the earlier wxPython/wxGTK quirk days .

added "=x11-libs/wxGTK-2.6.2 ~x86" to my /etc/portage/package.keywords

then emerge wxGTK wxpython
Problem solved and BitTornad for one started working again .

Just emerging wxpython-2.4.2.4-r3 worked for me. There were some other packages that the switch-over needed, like
wxglade and mysql-python, but already emerged them and wxpython still screwing up.

Okay, I emerged the latest Wxpython-2.4.2.4-r3 and BitTornado works. Thanks very much.

Though I'll probably have a look see at the WxGTK option.
