Hello.

Last night i performed an actualization of my gentoo box.
everything went fine during the update. Today, when booting with the box, gentoo says that my device eth1 does not exists...

my eth1 is my wireless card, intel (ipw2200 module). The modules are loaded, but not used....
i've unmerge them and then re-emerge but still no sucess

my box is a acer aspire 1692WMLi
any ideia ? before the update they were fine !

Cheers,

Bruno

You ave to revert back to udev-058.

I had this same problem...I jsut add the new versions of udev to my package.mask.

Let me know if that helps. I reinstalled before I found this out, so hopefully i saved a soul.

Hello,

I am having the same problem, but am a bit of a noob, so I'm not sure what you mean by revert U-DEV. Can you explain what I need to do?

Thanks.

It means that you need to downgrade your version of udev to the specified version, because things are broken in the newest one for your particular setup. Just put the version that you just emerged into /etc/portage/package.mask (there should be information on how to do that in man portage) and then emerge -uDp world should suggest the downgrade automagically.

Use sane CFLAGS! If for no other reason, do it for the lulz!
