i don't have an ~/.asoundrc, but I did when it wasn't working, I deleted it, so don't make one!

do you have your ALSA stuff built into your kernel or do you have it emerged??

Try taking ALSA completely out of the kernel, unmerging all of your current ALSA stuff, and emerging the ~x86 stuff like i posted before :)

Goodluck! keep me updated

I removed all alsa from kernel
unmerged everything alsa
did as you said with ALSA_CARDS="emu10k1" in make.conf
put the module in autoload
then emerged alsa things ~x86
removed /etc/asound.state

rebooted

doesn't work :|

okay i figured out what causes it on my machine

if the PCM level is over 50%, it happens

try turning your PCM levels on the intel8x0 under 50%... like around 40%, and bump your master up

and then try it out

Tried that, and it's much better!

Still I can hear that dodges are still there. Just WAY less loud :)
So I'll go with this solution, until I find something else ^^

Thanks a lot!

I'm also experiencing this problem. adjusting the PCM doesn't seem to help as much as you guys had said, but i'll keep messing.

please advise if there is another solution.

it turns out that adjusting the PCM was just an anomoly, it never gaurentees anything

as for your problem with the emu10k1... i am not sure because i purchased an emu10k1 card and do not find this problem with it, neither have a i heard anyone that has this problem with it

I am pretty sure this is an ongoing bug... I submitted the bug and it has had no progress :\
