It is a strange error. Probably it is sth with the cvs version of the nss/nspr libraries, could you wait probably till tomorrow, as I don't know when bbe will update the archives, (because the new cvs-build in them uses an olderer version of this libraries, which resolves some other problems with them and should work without such errors) and after that try again? If the problem should persist after this, I'll give it a closer look.

linforcer, which gcc version are you using and what are your cflags?
Do you have this files:
/var/tmp/portage/mozilla-deeppark-9999/work/mozilla/parser/expat/lib/expat.h
/var/tmp/portage/mozilla-deeppark-9999/work/mozilla/parser/expat/lib/xmlparse.c

I'll try later to see if I could reproduce this error, but I must reiterate mozilla-deeppark is a cvs-build and it could break, so its nature is highly expiremental and it is provided only for testing (as most of the changes there would not make it in the final 1.5, but hopefully in 2.0).
There is a status page (tinderbox), which shows current status of the builds http://tinderbox.mozilla.org/showbuilds ... =SeaMonkey, pulling from cvs should be done only when the builds a green.

linforcer wrote:Well I waited and now it's a whole new error

Should I wait another day or more?
linforcer, I saw the very same error, but not with the HEAD version (deeppark), but with the Mozilla-1.8 Branch. It was the very first time since the ff-1.5b1 release that Mozilla-1.8 branch broke during compilation (and also all linux tinderboxen of the branch are green).
What I don't understand is that after receiving this error I started compile again without cleaning the source

Code: Select all

USE="buildd" ebuild /usr/local/portage/www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.5_beta2.ebuild install
and then
USE="buildd" ebuild /usr/local/portage/www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.5_beta2.ebuild qmerge
Using this command, it kept the $Workdir and then compiled also nsExpatDriver.o without any complaint. Compile has just finished and FF-1.5(pre)beta2 runs like everyday  .
So maybe you should try it again (but do not clean your last compile) and see if this works for deeppark also.
Strange that both versions fail at the same file with the same error message (nsExpatDriver.cpp of HEAD and branch differ slightly). :?:

Update I am just in the process of compiling deeppark and its beyond the point of the breakage mentioned. I've updated my CVS repository at 16:49 CEST

It looks like some broken include-dependancy.
I hope they have fixed it - I'm simply locked down in recompiling the system, because I've decided to test gcc-4.0.2 ::))

Just built firefox 1.5 beta from CVS: It now says Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051002 Firefox/1.4.1, seems that beta 2 is coming real soon :D

Hi all,
I'm a Gentoo newbie, so please be patient...
I read this thread but i can't seem to figure all this information

I want to install and use the latest Firefox 1.5 version (what soon should be 1.5 beta 2) (I am un update freak and my windows machine is updated each day to the latest nightly version of the 1.5 branch)
I downloaded the file that is located at the bbe server and extract it to /usr/local/portage (is that where I supposed to put the extracted files?)
I also did 'ebuild mozilla-firefox-1.5-... digest' - Is that OK? I do it to install my aMule cvs ebuild I don't know if it's needed here

then i added ~x86 to the package.keywords file for mozilla-firefox and emerged mozilla-firefox

the merge process completed and firefox 1.0.7 unmerged from the system.
i then started firefox but it was not the latest code version but an old version (based on Beta 1 but with all the DeerPark logo's instead of Firefox)

and i see some of you are mentioning CVS ebuild so i guess i got the wrong ebuild or I did something else wrong.
any help would be appreciated...

thanks,

In the archive is one more ebuild mozilla-deeppark - it is the cvs-head version of the firefox: again it is probably not what you want, because it is not 1.5. it is sth, which will be 2.0 later.
I think wuno has cvs-build for the 1.5-branch. It should be simple to change the existing 1.5 build, but you must merge the firefox and the deeppark ebuilds and change the line ECVS_BRANCH="HEAD" to ECVS_BRANCH="MOZILLA_1_8_BRANCH".
So probably wuno could help you more with this::))

I don't know if it's just because I'm tired, but all ebuilds are called Deep park, while the program itself seems to be called deer park.

Is this just me? Has the name recently been changed (I know for example there is a large oil boring platform called deer park, copyright issues??)

It is entirely my mistake:( In some way I had the impression that it is called deeppark, sorry.
It was already mentioned here, but I decided that it would be a problem for the users already using the ebuild, if I change the name, there would be problems with the user directories, it should be first uninstalled because it will be a different ebuild and so on.
On the other hand the name is misleading, because it should be called mozilla-firefox-cvs or sth like this (it is a cvs-build) and have nothing to do with deer park, but if I'd have used this name what name to give the install dir and the program (the ebuild uses little magic in order not to conflict with the standard firefox installation), but at the end it could be the most reasonable solution:)

sorry if this has been asked already, but does any of these ebuilds have qt support built-in ??

There is no out-of-the-box support, but you could try changing the default-toolkit in mozconfig2.eclass, I don't know if it work with 1.5 build but it should compile with the cvs-build (at least so were the reports of some users), but it is still buggy I think:(

It seems that all the svg-problems were because of cairo, after installing 1.0.2 I could not crash 1.5b1 and cvs-head ::))

So when will 1.5b2 come out?
