CFLAG behaviour emerging coldplug (SOLVED)

  • Quote

Post by vanGogh » Fri Sep 23, 2005 10:15 am

following manual step by step (again), could not emerge coldplug saying that there is something wrong with -O2. so i change that in make.conf

Code: Select all

 CFLAG="-march=pentium2"
and that worked but there is another error occuring after that saying

Code: Select all

 Configur Error: libtool configure failed
Configure Error: ./configure failed for libusb
i have checked config.log but it doesn't helped me much. so i don't know what's best to do/check next, any suggestions? thx

Sounds odd coldplug wouldn't compile with O2....

What cflags was the system built with, just CFLAG="-march=pentium2 -O2" ?

are you doing a stage 1? If so did bootstrap complete fine?

Anything else unusual? (ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~alpha" or whatever :wink: )

You're not using GCC4 are you? (just a thought, O2 isn't stable for gcc4 yet in my experience)

lastly - it is a P2 presumably?? & your kernel isn't some crazy ricer patchset?

If all the above get 'sensible' answers, emerge --info could be useful.

originally

Code: Select all

 CFLAGS="-march=pentium2 -O2 -pipe"
after emerge errored about -O2 i have deleted it then box errored about -pipe and i have deleted that, too. up to that point everything went fine, stage3 with a nice genkernel which had worked before properly on my box (but last time i have installed i didn't use any CFLAGS). but i have a pentiumII (nothing special as far as i now, it is an ibm 300pl, never opened) so i thought that's what its made for, isn't it!?
concerning your qustion about gcc4, don't know, i am installing the current tree...

try doing an autoreconf in the build directory and

Code: Select all

 FEATURES='keepwork' emerge coldplug
. then if that doesn't work emerge libusb and libtool.

Major typo: it's CFLAGS, not "CFLAG".
