I think the latest netcraft survey said there were appoximately 30,000 Gentoo web servers on the net?
edit:
March 2005: According to Netcraft Ltd. there are currently 63.160 webservers running Gentoo Linux, 45.1% more than six months ago.
The December 2005 survey indicates that there are now 100,000 web servers running Gentoo.
The soul, when accustomed to superfluous things, acquires a strong habit of desiring things. This desire is without limit, while things which are necessary are few in number.

That sounds cool, although I always wonder how will they positively determine a server runs Gentoo. When I see my sites at netcraft.com, I only see "Linux" as operating system (See e.g. http://toolbar.netcraft.com/site_report ... zirona.com) However, one could find out the server runs Gentoo from the HTTP header where PHP inserts its "X-Powered-By" and issues the PHP version (containing the string "Gentoo").
I run my site on a Gentoo server, although Exim, Apache, MySQL, Proftpd, php & qpopper are compiled by me as and when security holes are found.... everything else is handled by portage..... site is in my sig.... The Linux Mirror Project.
