Suspend to RAM on an ATI AMD64 laptop

I want to get suspend-to-ram fully working (the suspend-to-ram part seems to work just fine, it's the recovery that's causing some headache)....

But..... I can't emerge vbetool - and much of the reading I've done mentions this tool to recover the video correctly (which seems to be my problem anyway) - is there anyway to emerge it? Or should I just try and compile it from scratch myself?

w/o vbetool I've tried suspending;
* with X running -> suspends fine, can't recover
* w/o X running -> suspends fine, can't recover
* w/o X runninf, usb-modules unloaded -> suspends fine, can't recover

What problem you get when you do a

Code: Select all

emerge vbetool
can you give the output?

The output is....

Code: Select all

These are the packages that I would emerge, in order:

Calculating dependencies
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "vbetool" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- sys-apps/vbetool-0.3 (masked by: missing keyword)
- sys-apps/vbetool-0.2 (masked by: missing keyword)
And I've just run into the same problem with net-wireless/acx100 - also masked by missing keyword....

I would love to get those on my system, at least to test wether or not they actually work....
(having bad feelings about acx100 though as I couldn't get that to work correctly after compiling from source - seemingly it sees the wlan0 correctly but no signal is reported at all, and leds on the pcmcia-card is 100% inactive (works fine in windows))...
