Hi out there,

some month ago i ripped some tv series from digital tv to the harddisk. I transformed and cut the original streams with projectX and mplexed it with mplex to get a DVD compliant mpeg2 file. So far so good. In the past i used a script called "dvdwizzard" to author files I treated this way to dvd and it was fine. Unfortunately the script could not handle multiple files and i need to autor like 8 smaller 20min series to one dvd. If i try autoring the files manually with dvdautor or due a gui like kmediafactory or qdvdauthor i get a nice dvd with all menu and stuff but the picture doesn't strech up on the tv. Means only the 2/3 of the left screen is filled. That should be the result of the fact, that the tv-format is 480x576 instead of 720x576.

Now the question :)

-> What is needed to tell the tv that the picture must be streched to fill the screen. I read some issues, that maybe the first frame has a different format, but this aint the point here. (by the way.. xine playes the dvd all fine)

-> Meanwhile i got sick of playing around and wasting a lot of time finding the flag for that "zoom-funktion". I would also be fine, if someone could tell me how to transcode the captured mpeg to the full size 480x576 -> 720x576), so that there is no question left what size to play on the tv. I went through the transcode manual but i think i need to zoom in the import stream and didnt find the right syntax.

Thanx for reading :)

Maybe you'll find something useful from this thread: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-117709.html

So far so good: Resizing the video does the Job. All is fine now after authoring the dvd. BUT!: The Videos are double in size now! 8O Means from 400MB to 800MB a 20min episode.

Maybe anyone knows the other way around. Whats needed to tell the TV or the DVD player to strech the 480x576 Movie to full PAL?

Thanx
