while fglrx was loaded and xorg.conf is correct (as shown in my first post above) but I have still indirect rendering.

I've been trying with and without InternalAGPGART and after restarting X it still doesn't work :(
I have the same problem after a recent update, but I'm also unable to fix it :cry:

I doubt that 'InternalAGPGART' will work, anyway, as your 'dmesg' indicates that you have the same problem that prompted me to file Bug#102726, the short answer to which was, "Use the kernel's AGPGart".

I'm out of idea's, for now, i'm afraid. I'll keep thinking about it, though, & watch the thread for any updates that might give a clue to the solution... :(

I noted this same issue with my AMD64 with Radeon9600. I suppose I need to keep in touch with that bug-report.

Dont know if its related, but I had a similar problem and fixed it after looking at [post=2707255]this thread[/post]

I simply did:

Code: Select all

emerge libstdc++-v3
I encountered my problem because a recent update upgraded my version of gcc.

Might be worth a try, good luck

WOW!!! It really helped!!! I can't believe it! Oh thank you!!!
This is what I did:

Code: Select all

# emerge libsdtc++-v3
# emerge ati-drivers
# opengl-update xorg-x11 && opengl-update ati
it started to work even without restarting X.

Code: Select all

$ glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: Yes
Will that be ok with the other AMD64 users who've been seeking help in this topic if I mark it as SOLVED?

The other thread that MikeTheGreat provided the link to has been marked 'SOLVED', & Wedge_ is updating his FAQ also, so even though i'm not an AMD64 user, i don't see why you shouldn't do likewise here... :wink:

The key to whether or not libstdc++-v3 is needed seems to be which version of GCC your installations of python & portage were built with; Because 64-bit Gentoo systems use GCC-3.4.4 in the stable-branch, some people may already have a 3.4.4-optimised system, & as such shouldn't need the backward-compatibility that the extra library provides... :?

EDIT: It might be polite to notify the bug-wranglers, too... :lol:

And I correct my position: mine works too after I rebooted.
