Ok, here's one for you all.
The other night on a fresh install, I did an "emerge ndivia-kernel nvidia-glx gnome fluxbox kde".
After it got done, I did the necessary editing of /etc/X11/xorg.conf and started up gnome. Works great.
Started up fluxbox. Works great.
Started up KDE....doesn't work great. The nvidia logo loads and goes away like it should, the mouse starts (and works) but all I have is a blank screen. KDE never actually loads. I tried variations 'kde' and 'kde<version number>' in /etc/rc.conf and it doesn't make any difference.
I just tried loading X with the default window manager and running 'startkde' and KDE loads fine. That's really not convenient, as this will ultimately be a multimedia PC in a home entertainment center.
Any ideas on how to get KDE to load with X?
