2005.1 is not officially released, which is why there's no notes... we had a problem internally that has gotten release materials out before they were supposed to be... and at least one ISO image (livecd-x86-2005.1.iso) is not functional properly... so I would suggest avoiding these files until an official announcement is made...
Locking this until the problems are solved and the release is official. Please have some patience in the meanwhile.

Unlocked and posting this on behalf of plasmaroo:
2005.1 is officially released but not yet available via normal mirror distribution due to a scheduled power outage at the OSU Open Source Labs. Our infrastructure personnel are working on getting the release media staged at the moment, and this should be completed along with a full PR release by 48 hours. Until please try out our BitTorrent tracker at http://tracker.netdomination.org for the official 2005.1 release media, courtesy of Friends of Gentoo eV.
The highly anticipated X LiveCD will be available via BitTorrent in a few days with the latest GLI release.

You don't need it. If your gentoo is installed then everything you need is emerge --sync && emerge -uvaD world to have the same as 2005.1adamb10 wrote:I spend all day doing a gentoo 2005.0 install and then 2005.1 is released?![]()

That's not quite correct.pablo_supertux wrote:You don't need it. If your gentoo is installed then everything you need is emerge --sync && emerge -uvaD world to have the same as 2005.1adamb10 wrote:I spend all day doing a gentoo 2005.0 install and then 2005.1 is released?![]()
Code: Select all
$ readlink /etc/make.profileChances are 99 to 1 that it will.Q-collective wrote:Hope not.pablo_supertux wrote:will start the X server automatically by default?
But if you can choose not to use lxnay's liveCD to install Gentoo, I do not see why you can't choose not to use the X liveCD.
I'm excited about this new X liveCD and the GLI. Sounds like it's going further along than what I'd realised.

Oh, I was under the impression that the GLI cd would eventually replace the normal cd's (base and universal). My bad I guess.psyqil wrote:Come on, folks, you don't have to use the X-CD...Q-collective wrote:Hope not.pablo_supertux wrote:will start the X server automatically by default?just get the normal release and stop complaining about non-existant problems, please!

well, if you change the profile then you have the same, that's right.Dlareh wrote:That's not quite correct.pablo_supertux wrote:You don't need it.
