ok, I had an apache2 server up and runing fine for a couple of days but recently I cant seem to connect to myself, I figured one of the config files with apache got screwed up or that my dns deamon wasnt workin right and I would deal with it later, so I ignored it. But I just went to configure cups.. and cups is running and when i do a

http://localhost:631

in firefox, it gives me the same result as trying to go to my website, neverending loading thing.. so out of curiosity i went to my dyndns account and my ip updater was working, whats up, I cant go to any of my own services anymor, no one can connect to me through apache, I didn't set up a firewall.. and now its stopping me from seting up my printer :?

P.S. http://localhost:631 did work not to long ago as well as my website did.. I am going through a router but I was going through a router when it was first working as well, no firewalls router side or anything wierd like that to set up... using ipv6 if it matters thnx for reading :)

localhost resolves to 127.0.0.1 if it is working properly. See if you can connect to cups with 127.0.0.1:631, that will rule out a resolving issue.

yeah, it works fine if I use 127.0.0.1, hmm just check my /etc/hosts and realized that 127.0.0.1 is named gentoo, could this also be why my apache server is bieng wierd?

yeah, maybe the fact that i dont have a localhost anymore is messing with everything, because although I can connect to the main cups screen using gentoo if i try to add printers it fails again.. I'm gonna go fix /etc/hosts and reboot brb

does your /etc/hosts have this entry?

Code: Select all

127.0.0.1 localhost
It should have...

Did you check with ifconfig if there is a loopback device up running?
Does your apache now work on localhost or 127.0.0.1?
