emerge xcdroast fails at download

  • Quote

Post by flippah » Tue Jul 26, 2005 6:10 pm

Hi,

I tried emerge xcdroast, but it always fails.
It wants to download xcdroast-0.98_alpha15_new_configure.tar.gz but doesn't find it on any mirror.

so what to do now?

can you post the output of:

Code: Select all

emerge --info
and the error message. This will help us greatly to understand the problem. Also make sure that the package is not masked at all.

You may have error in GENTOO_MIRRORS, try to comment this one out.
Or it could be just temporary failure ...

as this error only occurs with xcdroast, I don't think it's an error in GENTOO_MIRRORS.

The mirrors you got there probably doesn't have xcdroast. Comment out GENTOO_MIRRORS, and post what it does.

I have the same problem. I had set up my mirrors using "mirrorselect" and with or without comment the problem exist. I was looking for the exact name of package in google but it's unable to find it. Now, I have done a emerge sync in order to have a updated portage, but not work. Even, I have download the ebuild from www.gento-portage.com without success. Maybe, is the package missing?

so it seems to make a difference between xcdroast-0.98_alpha15_new_configure.tar.gz and xcdroast-0.98alpha15.tar.gz - so how do I switch to the second, which seems to work?

By the way: I made the MIRROR_SELECT a comment, that doesn't change anything.

Unfortunately, I'm having the same problem. The first time, it downloaded xcdroast-0.98_alpha15tar.gz and then tried to download the config file. It goes through several ftp sites but can't find route to host or file not found. I've tried to delete the non-config file and it re-downloaded it just fine, but wanted the config file again. There is NO xcdroast in my package.mask file. I've got ~x86 in my keyword file (tried the amd64 too, just to see). It still wants that config file. Oh, I've also tried commenting out GENTOO_MIRRORS in make.conf. I've even tried to vist the sites via a browser and no file.

Hmm. someday I should just learn cdrecord from the command line so I don't have to depend on the gui :(

After searching for the missing file for quite a while, I found a place where you can download it manually:
http://gentoo.mirror.sdv.fr/distfiles/x ... ure.tar.gz
Get the file and put it to /usr/portage/distfiles/, and xcdroast will emerge nicely.
