DWL-650 wlan-ng firmware won't load

After much screwing around with ndiswrapper & my linksys wpc54g I decided to get a dlink dwl-650 (because it was only 6$ and was supposed to work well under linux).

well, so far i've found out that my card (revision p) may or may not be prism3.
lspci never shows it at all

kernel built with pcmcia networking wupport, wireless networking support, pcmcia support, yenta cardbus, orinoco_cs & hermes drivers as modules.
cardbus works fine - orinoco/hermes don't identify the card.
ndiswrapper w/ windows drivers doesn't see the card (i suspect because lspci doesnt even see it)
wlan-ng see's the card, tries to load ssf firmware - but fails.

anyone know how to figure out what firmware this card needs wlan-ng to load? and how to get wlan-ng to load the right firmware?
i'd really like to avoid having to buy a 3rd wireless card

I'm having problems with this card too. It does appear to be prism3 from the searching I've done. Let me know if you have found a way to get it working.

some hlep for you (and others) - but no solution:

this card has no on-board firmware
it needs to be loaded every time the card is initialized
wlan-ng package has a tool for doing htis - but i don't know what it's called

you might want to try the hostap driver - it comes with firmware for the card & a safer firmware loading tool (prism2_srec) .... lots of people have had luck with this guide: http://home.columbus.rr.com/andrewbarr/ ... tml#prereq
however I wasn't so lucky - i get ioctl errors when trying to load any firmware onto the card =( not a single reply on the hostap mailing list either... right now i'm researching for a new card that has wider use (read: success) on linux

Well, if your DWL-650 has a grey antenna, then it could be an ACX100.

So, you might want to try 'emerge net-wireless/acx100' ...

there are 2 dwl-650's with grey/silver antennae.... one is an earlier revision than the P and uses the acx100 - the rev p however will state that it is a rev p if you cardctl ident it
