USB Automounting [Advice]

  • Quote

Post by djpharoah » Thu Jul 21, 2005 12:12 am

hi everyone..

im having a dilema as to what Linux distro im gonna put on my new hdd on my laptop.

After installing Ubuntu on my pop's laptop i was really impressed with the USB stick automounting and disconnecting feature that they have included with the Gnome Desktop.

I am wondering if there is any way to perfectly mimick that on a gentoo system? I have read threads about ivman, dbus etc..but somehow it doesnt work properly.

Just wondering if anyone knows of the method that is used in the Ubuntu Gnome system and if i can install that on a gentoo system??

please dont flame..

just asking for advice

Well, GVM is all but perfect, but it's the only viable solution at the moment.
The alternative (ivman) isn't nearly as effective.
