You're ironic right? Isn't the Mafia music like boring classics of the 20's? It sure adds more proper feeling to the environment/surrroundings but it isn't something I would listen to daily, hehe. The game however is one of my favourites.

Resident evil :D, I have 6 albums in a cool black box of all the resident evil games ( 0 , 1 , 2 , 3 , CV and 4). The songs rock, I have them all ripped with sound-juicer, They have the highest ranks in my audioscrobbler. My favorites are from 1 and 2 I guess.

For amazing muisic there are several choices:

The first halo had an epic score that was good, but unlike the music of Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 7, I couldn't enjoy them outside of the game. And uh, games with performing artists in thier soundtrack feel awkard. A true game has it's own music.

Also, prince of persia had awesome music and so did Lara Croft: Angel of Darkness (the menu music can put me to sleep in a good way, it's so smooth).

Katamari Damacy has a great soundtrack, it was one of the runners-up for best original music composition in the latest AIAS Awards (The videogame Oscars).

Neverwinter Nights also has some mind numbing background music.

I've always loved the "Battlefield 1942" sound track. It gives me a lot of fun memories. The new sound for BF2 sucks compared to the old ones.

So far C&C Generals... It's nice hearing a rapid music in the midst of a battle and then a little victory-like tune when the computer's getting crushed :D Or it was just me hearing voices...

Chrono trigger - Top notch stuff
Final Fantasy series - I especially liked FF4 (2 in the USA) FF6 (3 in the USA) and FF7
Starfox 64's soundtrack reminds me of Dvorak's music, which is a GOOD THING.
Ocarina of time had some really nice tunes.
Super Smash Bros. Melee had a lot of good remixes .. Zelda II temple and Fountain of Dreams come to mind
Metroid Prime had some really nice songs -- Tallon Overworld, Magmoor, and Ridley boss theme come to mind. The latter two were also in Super Metroid.
The Mega Man series of games have some really good songs (and some not so good songs too)
Top Gear (the original, also known as Top Racer)'s four songs for the tracks were good
The Sonic games for Genesis had some very cool music. Tunes like Toxic Caves in Spinball were very nice.
Sonic CD had great music, primarily because it was true CD audio.

I liked the Soundtrack of Full Throttle a lot and sometimes I just put it in my CD-player, especially when I have to drive long distances.

A lot have been said by others, but anyway:

- Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross
- Xenogears ! <-- wow wow wow !!
- XenoSaga (yeah I know, I love Mitsuda's work :P)
- Castlevania SOTN (and all Castlevania "hard rock" remixes .. the 2 "perfect best" compilations I think, and a LOT of others Castlevania musics)
- Final Fantasy 6 and 7 (and some others from the others FF)
- Secret of Mana !
- Soukaigi (Sakuraba rocks !)
- some of the Suikoden series (especially from the 2nd)

Chrono Cross' main theme blows anything else away
It isn't enough to win - everyone else must lose, and you also have to rub it in their face (maybe chop off an arm too for good measure).

Um, the tune from Chrono Trigger's main map after just the start of the game wins. Period, end of story...

Then the tune that opens after you start FF7 (before you start the game, like when credits are flyin' by) is a very close second.
