Uninstalled portage accident! Heh Need a little help!

Ok, so took off portage accidentally while trying to revert to an older, stable, version. I am running an amd64 release, and I mounted a live cd using -o loop, and I retrieved the portage snapshot on the cd. What do I need to do from here to get portage commands (emerge, ebuild) back from the dead?

Take a look at /usr/portage/sys-apps/portage/files/README.RESCUE

Me too, did you ever find a solution for this?

[I've mashed my portage and python somehow, managed to mount and run a python on a samba mount to another box by adding it to ld.so.conf and running ldconfig, but I now get this when trying to do anything portage]

I'd really rather not reinstall this box if I can help it, but it's looking very ill

It's called "parrot" and I think it's dead...

Hi guys,

Has anybody any suggestion? Unfortunately, I hosed my Gentoo installation on a Toshiba Satellite with a screwed CD-R so:

1. No booting from CD => Reinstallation?
2. No netbooting with grub because of outdated (?) eepro100 drivers that don't recognize that ethernet card

Sooo, what options do I have? I'd rather go for fixing it (there must be a solution, right?)
