When i want to emerge KDevelop, i get the following Message:

Actually I'm a real noob to gentoo and mostly to linux so, maybe somebody can tell me what this message means?
Thank you,

Hi there,
glad to have you on board! The main error message is this:
libtool: link: `//usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5/libstdc++.la' is not a valid libtool archive
meaning that there is a conflict for several versions of libtool (I'm not 100% sure). To solve this you have to run

Code: Select all

fix_libtool_files.sh
But I think you can't just do this from the command line you have to put it into your ebuild file which steers the compilation and merging process for the package. You have to look for

Code: Select all

/usr/portage/dev-util/kdevelop/kdevelop-3.1.2.ebuild
In this file you search for the "src_compile" method; there, right at the beginning you have to put in the "fix_libtool_files.sh" command. Reruning "emerge kdevelop" should then do the job.

hi,
maybe this can help a bit:
The directory: //usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/ doesn't exist
instead i have: /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/

Hmm, I had a similar problem once, but I really can't remember how to solve it exactly. I searched a little bit, maybe here you find something useful:

I have solved the problem, i just copied the files from the 686 to the 386 dir and emerged kdevelop.
Ok, it's a very dirty solution but hey, it works.
See ya,
Esel
