looking for cool progs

Post by Milbog_McLoon » Thu Jun 09, 2005 4:11 pm

Hi, I finally got my Gentoo working and online, running Xwindows. Now I need some cool apps.

Anyone know and cool apps to install? The Sci-Astronomy category looks cool!!

My specs are kinda low, P2-300 with 196 MB Ram, 10 Gig harddrive.

Thanks.

On a lower-end system, it might be important to watch those resources. You might give a look at something like karamba/superkaramba (their size is here) if you run KDE or perhaps gdesklets for gnome.

on that system you suggest (super)karamba? i would not even touch kde/gnome...

install, at best, torsmo, if you want a monitoring tool. also install a light wm, fvwm or so. the rest depends on what you want to do on your system.

Thanks, I'll get most of the tools. How about actual applications?

I'm especially looking for Sci-Astronomy apps, since I saw the category. Anything cool?
How about a nice planetarium or something?
