BIG FONT PROBLEM

  • Quote

Post by pinnockio » Sat Jun 08, 2002 8:15 pm

Hello Folks,

Just installed Gentoo and I love it. The only thing that was missing for me were some good administrative programs like text & spreadsheet etc. so I installed OpenOffice1.0 with -net switch (free Staroffice version). Worked just fine, untill I tried to use my messenger Kmess again: when people reply I can't see what they are replying although when they type smileys, I still see them. Then when I wanted to check out some other packages at the gentoo site for some extra fonts, the only thing I saw was a blank page!! Although some other pages just seem to work fine. I tried everything to get it normal again: uninstalling OpenOffice reinstalling QT, messing around with fonts, reinstalling KDE and even Gnome, but nothing seems to work ;-).

Well, if somebody could help me find the "Heureka" let me know!!

Kind Regards,
a Belgian Gentoo user

The "Packages" page on Gentoo.org is broken right now; it's not a problem with your setup.

Ok thx,

So that's already one problem that is gone :-), but people are still replying in an invisible font while using kmess. Or, am I at the wrong forum for this problem?

Greetz,

M.

I have the same problem (i think it's the same problem):

After OpenOffice installation, pages in mozilla are an absolute mess (all pages). Parts of text are missing while I can still click the hyper links, but I cannot read them.
So it seems al information is there but I cannot read it. I think it is a font problem.

I installed open office using the installation tarball from openoffice.org.

I have already de-installed openoffice (and will not ever install it again)

I am recompiling mozilla right now, hope the installation repairs mozilla.
Dries.
You can have it fast, cheap or correct: pick 2
