MySQL query tool like MS Enterprise Man?

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

MySQL query tool like MS Enterprise Man?

  • Quote

Post by Supermule » Sun Apr 24, 2005 9:50 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know of a tool to "point and click" advanced querys? Im looking for an eq. to MS Enterprise Manager - which really saves the day when working with SQL Server. Now I need something very similar when working with MySQL. I've come across this tool http://www.isqlviewer.com but its not *quite* as powerfull as I would have hoped for...

Any good Urls?
regards,

Have you tried Aqua Data Studio? It's not (GNU) Free, but it's in portage and can be used "non-commercially" gratis. It's almost exactly a clone of MS's SQL Query Analyzer; what it lacks is the Access-like editable table display of databases that come with the full Enterprise Manager. However, in my experience it's much, much faster than the EM (not bad for a java app). Plus it has bindings for a whole lot of databases.
vi? *snicker* it doesn't even include a mail reader...

You could try MySQL Query Browser, MySQL's new supported tool. A bit different than what you're used too, but it's powerful. Give it a try! I use it both on Linux and Windows.

Funny, it seems to be gone now. It used to be dev-db/aqua-data-studio.

Now it only seems to be here.

You can still pick up the old builds here. They still work, I just re-emerged the 3.0 version.

I'm puzzle though as to why they pulled out perefectly working ebuilds from the tre on the sole basis that more recent versions came out that are incompatible with Portage. :?
