well I hope that there are some bugs that don't apply to the final 3.4 release.

I'm anxious too to get my hands on new kde, but I would prefer to see it on stable :)
although in the next week, if it's not on stable I will make an adventure on the new gcc and kde...
and hope it don't break much :D

I stumbled upon some nasty bugs with kde 3.3.2

In particular, when browsing with Konqueror, lots of annoying Document Relations toolbars jump at my face.

I think I'll definetely will give a try to KDE 3.4

I have been using 3.4 for several weeks without any problems at all on three completly different systems. A Centrino laptop, an Opteron 146 and a dual processor Athlon 2200 MP. All running 2.6.11 gentoo-sources kernels.

I don't believe anything needed was hard masked. I just added a few new entries to my /etc/portage/package.keywords file.

Maybe I'm missing something? KDE released 3.4 stable release March 16 or something.

What does it mean to be stable with GENTOO? Isn't KDE, KDE?

Well kde launched a stable version, but because there are a lot of dependencies distros needs some testing before it goes to stable.. that's how GNU/Linux distros works.

Finally emerge kde 3.4

It's working pretty fine so far now. A few minor glitches, but far more stable than 3.3.2
