kde 3.4 + samba [problem disapeard]

smbclient works like a charm from CL...no problems what-so-ever...I can find, authenticate & x-fer files with many systems on the network...

but, when i put smb://whatever in konqueror, i can never authenticate (it asks for username & password perpetually).

The company has a rather simple network...
We've got NT4 Servers as our PDC & BDC (out of my control

)...
My smb.conf is very simple, and works fine on my other 4 gentoo machines here at work...

Any Ideas?

ok, nevermind.

It's been acting weird for about a month now...
but this morning I went through all the setup again (joining the domian...etc)...I restarted samba after my last post, and now everything mysteriously works.
we shall see if continues...

hi rick

you don't need any samba daemon running in kde for accessing samba shares. by typing

smb:/

in your konqueror you can browse the contents of your samba / windows network. it seems that konqueror uses capitalized letters to access the samba / windows computers, so instead of using

Code: Select all

smb://yourcomputer

just try to type in

Code: Select all

smb://YOURCOMPUTER

and the password problem should be no more.
