how do you keymap the keyboards extra "media" keys

How can I use my extra keys that are on my keyboard? Such as: volume, mute, standby, internet... and such. I figure there is a way to map them to a command so say, the internet key would open up mozilla? I've looked through xmodmap and xev but I can't figure it out. I basically need to know how to identify these keys and then put them in a relevant file. Like ~/.fluxbox/keys or something. Thanks!

you can run either

or

i dont remember wich one is grapgical but it allows you to select media keys, depending of course on your keyboard type

Thanks guys! I did some tinkering around and royally screwed up my keyboard a few times. But I've got it working now. I just need to figure out what the commands are to increase and decrease and mute my volume using alsa. You guys dont' know off-hand do you?

that would be sweet to, if someone know how to set the master volume on alsa please post the command it would be very sweat

geez. got it. man pages are cool. Ok, check it out, this is great. You can increment, decrement, and set the volume, respectively, like this:

amixer set 'Master' 1+
amixer set 'Master' 1-
amixer set 'Master' 40

keep in mind that 65 is the highest it goes. I about blew out my eardrums. At least, 65 is how it is with my setup. Maybe it is different for some people.

And of course, you can change other channels besides 'Master'. For a list for your card, do:

Cool , thats what i was needing, but man really helps a lot (not for those who dony like reading) but i sure does its job tks guys
