Kernel not recognizing your hardware? Problems with power management or PCMCIA? What hardware is compatible with Gentoo? See here. (Only for kernels supported by Gentoo.)

hi i just refresh installed gentoo, dont ask me the reason, i just totally messed up the system :p
so i was using 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 and i wanna use that kernel again, but in portage has only 2.6.11 's
i just dont want to use 2.6.11-x cause I dont want to play with all these nvidia-kernel problems, X crashing etc..
just want to use 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 ( or higher but not 2.6.11) for my new refreshed gentoo.

but how?
i looked up on the mirror sites but nothing available,
looked up on gentoo-dev-sources official website nothing available...

just wanna get e 2.6.10-gentoo-rx kernel...
thx

and if you realy don't want to use 2.6.11 or higher, add it to your /etc/portage/package.mask:
echo ">=gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.11" >> /etc/portage/package.mask

The correct line would be:

Code: Select all

echo ">=sys-kernel/gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.11" >> /etc/portage/package.mask
