gDesklets eBuild is masked?

  • Quote

Post by Verted » Wed Mar 02, 2005 7:31 pm

I searched for gDesklets today only to find that the ebuild was broken:

Code: Select all

verted root # emerge -s gdesklets
Searching...
[ Results for search key : gdesklets ]
[ Applications found : 1 ]

*  gnome-extra/gdesklets-core [ Masked ]
      Latest version available: 0.33.1
Latest version installed: [ Not Installed ]
Size of downloaded files: 1,109 kB
      Homepage: http://gdesklets.gnomedesktop.org
Description: GNOME Desktop Applets: core library for the desktop applets
      License: GPL-2
Why is it masked? How can I unmask it?
Thanks,
-Verted

Any idea why this is masked?

On that note, how do I find out why something is masked?

When I try the set of commands posted earlier, I still can't emerge it because a dependency is masked. This is the error i get.

Code: Select all

!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy ">=dev-python/gnome-python-2.6" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- dev-python/gnome-python-2.6.1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.
!!! (dependency required by "gnome-extra/gdesklets-core-0.33.1" [ebuild])
I suppose I could use the same command earlier except replace the gdesklets part with gnome-python-2.6, but my concerns are the harms of emerging a masked ebuild. Is it a bad thing to emerge this?

Still no luck>_<

Code: Select all

verted root # emerge gdesklets-core
Calculating dependencies -
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy ">=dev-python/gnome-python-2.6" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- dev-python/gnome-python-2.6.1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)

I dunno if it has been fixed yet, but there was a bug with gdesklets 0.33.1 and the sysbar-plugin. You weren't able to see the plugin, instead there was just a little corner on the screen.

Oh, that would certainly do it. I will just wait until it's fixed.
