RAR archives on OSX and Linux [SOLVED]

  • Quote

Post by Voltago » Mon Feb 28, 2005 3:41 pm

Hi all! I just discovered that RAR archives for Windows/Linux (on x86) are not recognized as valid archives (error msg: "$FILE is not RAR archive"), while I can extract dedicated OSX RAR archives without problems in x86-Linux. How come?

Odd... rar archives work fine for me. Are you using Ark to open them, and do you have rar and unrar merged?

I'm using the rar tool from rarlabs.com on both machines.

UPDATE:
I happened to look at the offending files with less and this is what I saw:

Code: Select all

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<html><head>
<title>404 Not Found</title>
</head><body>
<h1>Not Found</h1>
<p>The requested URL /distfiles/Weimer-SolaufeinMod-v101.exe was not found on this server.</p>
</body></html>
Oh well... excuse me while I bang my head against the wall...
