The normal one, the only use flag I used was to create the symlink automatically.

ok, now let's see,

I saw a few warnings and errors that are fixable, but i'd need you to do one thing:

send me the firegl_public.c file via email, I'll send you the fixed one,
my mail is Tiger683<AT>gmx.net.

cheers,

Tiger

PS: post as soon as you sent it so i will check my mail....
EDIT:
I have a radeon myself, but because of the fuss with new nitro-rt didn't even install the module source, that's why i need the firegl_public.c
EDIT2:
It might take a little longer than you expect, but i assume it'll be today though, and the fix will probably remain valid for next nitro release, and this time i will also test fglrx with the nitro-rt

Just a question, does this kernel also carry the Darckness Seal of Approved AMD64 64bit goodness? (i'll find out soon anyway, but i don't know how futile my effort will be)

One question tiger, I just started my brain and wondered why I sent you the file.
I mean all you have to do is emerge ati-drivers or am I missing something important here?

Hi guys,

I checked this out the other day, build went well, booted first time, but after I battled with the NVidia module for a while and got it to compile, my X display was corrupt, half of the screen elements were not drawn and all the desktop icons had echoes. Was completely unusable.

Is this a unique problem or something someone has come across before.

Thanks.
Paul

I threw together a portage overlay of the latest ati-drivers that work on my system running this kernel. Simply uncompress the archive in /usr/local/portage then emerge ati-drivers. If you don't have portage overlay setup yet, it's an option in /etc/make.conf.

Here's the link:
ATI drivers overlay

If all you need is the diffs, here's a link to that. For patching purposes, this applies against original agpgart_be.c and firegl_public.c files as included with fglrx release version 8.8.25.

NOTE: I haven't tested my patch against AMD64 arch as I don't have one. I can however say the above works GREAT on my Athlon XP 3000+ system with an ATI 9800 Pro. I played couple hours of ET and Doom3 after installing this.

Cheers,
J0rus

no luck for me with these kernel sources, the kernel compiles but on reboot I run into several issues.
- no splash
- pcmcia problems, I have 2 microdrives, during boot up i get an error, ide_cs
not found but I have it compiled into the kernel
- networking doesnt work using r8169, when I execute /etc/init.d/net.eth0
restart it hangs the session
- ifconfig hangs the session
- removing modules hangs the session
- reboot isnt successful, have to power off

I get the same results when trying to use the latest vivid sources as well.

A bit about my system, should it be needed.
Sager 8890 laptop, p4, 1GB ram, ati mobility 9600 I believe, gigabit ethernet -Realtek.

Any thoughts on this

I too have problems with nvidia based sound.

> SND_INTEL8X0

Does anyone know how to fix this? -- I think it's the new RC. I'll just revert back until it's sorted. That aside, this is probably the best kernel I've ever used so far.

It exists only as normal users. => Sound is woking fine as root

Alsamixer as normal user:

alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: Permission denied

linux_on_the_brain: which version are you using? If it's the rt version, try the other one.

People with intel8x0 issues: New release is in final stages of testing and should be out later today.

uh......... ok............ neeways, its looking to me like 2.6.11 is going to break quite a few things, heh, I'l likely end up being the last person to move to 2.6.11. Also, on a side note, dark6 testing is going good and as3 has proven to be quite nice.

HAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

predatorfreak: 2.6.11* works perfectly (I'm actually running the latest nitro here to test stuff before I release it ;)). Tiger683 and I are simply angered by Mr. Morton's patchset because it's broken and we want it to work.

lol, this is for those of you that like to laugh at other's demise:

I actually don't need nvidia audio fixed anymore, because, I was vaccuming, and I got the headphones cord stuck in the bottom of the vaccume. After I unraveled the cord from the vaccume and let my room air out from the smell of burning rubber, I noticed that the headphone back is broken off inside of the computer.

Luckely, I have an old monster sound MX2 I'm going to put in because there's no way I can get the headphone jack out (without maybe using a drill, and breaking my motherboard), so I'll let you know if the vortex 2 drivers are broken :x

P.S. I have no idea how to spell vaccume.

2.6.11 is not the prob, it is the mm patchset that contains so many stuffbreaking patches, that i'll probably start doing my mm-reloaded and after thorough testing put it into some patchset... As darckness said, we had EXACTLY the same probleam yesterday evening at testing the nitro-e and nitro-rt : complete lockup at boottime ide-probing. I still believe i'll be able to fix it, but i guess darckness already gave up all hopes for regular e version.

Exactly how does the realtime scheduler differ from the previous schedulers? (cfq, anticipatory, noop, deadline)
