X.Org config, resolution not working, staying 640x480

I don't really want to use the "real" nvidia drivers, btw.

Anyways, no matter what, X is always 640x480, even though I'm telling it to use otherwise. Xfce resolution options only shows 640x480, too. The display's optimal resolution is 1600x1200, so that isn't the problem...

I have no idea whats wrong... ideas?

just had the same problem using the nvidia driver.

in the monitor section, try adding a modeline for your monitor (just look one up in google or the forums)

here is what worked for me to get 1024x768:

HorizSync 30-85
VertRefresh 50-120
Modeline "1024x768" 72.71 1024 1064 1176 1328 768 769 772 798
