use vmalloc to increase size

I'm getting this error every time I boot my gentoo kernel:

Code: Select all

allocation failed: out of vmalloc space - use vmalloc=<size> to increase size.
Anyone have any idea on how to increase this?

Use vmalloc=<size> in your kernel arguments. Try experimenting with different size values until you can boot.

having the same problem here, and this thread looks like a step in the right direction. basically add it to your grub.conf, and it suggests that a value of 256 might fix it (defaults to 128). i haven't tried it yet, but hopefully it'll do the trick. hope this helps,

jay

yeah, it took care of my error message, still having issues getting games to run for very long though. my kernel line:

Code: Select all

root=/dev/sda6 gentoo=nodevfs idebus=66 vmalloc=256m
let 'er flicker,
