Gnome 2.2 Acme (Multimedia Keys)

What media/mp3 programs work with acme (Gnome Multimedia Keys) or is there a way to get it working with xmms? I have e-mail and web keys working but can't control xmms though it.

Thanks,
Mike

If you have an itouch keyboard you can use the xmms-itouch plugin. You could try this plugin with other keyboards...not sure if it would work but it allows you to change which keys do what so it may be possible.

FYI: also works with the Microsoft Natural (Pro) keyboard.

A mix of acme and xmms-itouch works great. xmms-itouch has a setup bug that locks the keyboard sometimes though.

I love this, never heard of acme. It's nice to have the multimedia keys work for me now, since I like to use my wireless keyboard for movie watching and such from afar.
Cool stuff, dude, thanks

I'm using lineak for a year now with my logitech keyboard. I'm looking into Acme (because I'm running Gnome as my desktop manager) but I find it to restricting at the moment, no possebility to assign applications to keys :(.

So 'lineakd -b' stays in my programs to start in gnome-session for a while.

I've written a mail to the autor of acme to add support for customizing the programs. He wasn't very nice and said this isn't "useful"/"needed"... :x

I was irritated by the fact that I couldn't change which web-browser I wanted to launch from ACME. I opened up the source code for 2.0.2 and grepped for mozilla. I didn't find a thing. This made me think that mozilla was the default browser as set by Gnome. So I looked into preferences Applications->Desktop Preferences->Advanced-> Preferred Applications and changed it from there. I like all the other programs it runs, so I'm done hacking around his source. Of course, I only have 5 media keys, so it probably isn't as much an issue for me as it is for anyone else. I just thought I'd throw that out in case anyone else were wondering how to change the browser.

on freshmeat.net there is a package xmms-xf86audio or something like that, it adds key bindings to xmms for the standard XF86 audio button keycodes. use acme to map your buttons (which maps them to the correct keycodes) and bobs your uncle
