emerging ufed

I'll emerge ufed
but this need >=perl-5.8.2
I'ts safe to update perl with emerge or is better if I search a OSX package over the net?

Should be save to update perl via portage, but have a look at the emerge output:
I Think you have to run some perl-update script after emerging...
Ufed didn`t work that well for me: I think it accidentially changes flags on leaving so I prefer setting the flags manually.
