Everything compiles and I can download the content. But when I try to run ./psclient I get:

Code: Select all

planeshift.application.client:
  psEngine initialized.
Creating psnetconnection 874cef0!
DLERROR (/home/wim/development/cel/stdphyslayer.csplugin): /home/wim/development/cel/stdphyslayer.so: undefined symbol: _ZN10celMessageC1EPKcPc

crystalspace.pluginmgr.loadplugin:
WARNING: could not load plugin 'cel.physicallayer'
Couldn't load plugin for PlLayer.
Any idea's?

Thanks,
Wim

Thanks for the guide! :D I have always wanted to try a MMORPG...but do you think my computer can handle it: pII 400mhz, 128mb ram, geforce2? I know the website says min of 1ghz and 512mb ram, but I know they're usually a little high...
Would you says this game is more hardware intensive than enemy territory? which I can just play at min settings and 800x600 :?

well just try it out... at lower settings of course... the state of planeshift is not final, in fact it's still alpha, but playable... and it's really fun :) a good internet connection is always a plus though...

hmmm...this is really wierd, I've followed the instructions and am compiling cal3D for about two hours and I just looked at it and it's doing a bunch of checks and then looping through them over and over :?

hmmm...it seems that the line that is making the code repeat itself over and over is:

Code: Select all

/bin/sh ./config.status --recheck
why is this executed? also through some googling it seems that my error might also have something to do with bad macros and automake...I reemerged automake, but it didn't help though :?

I noticed that I had to touch -m them files to fix that, they were complaining about invalid timestamps

Curantil, I get the same thing.
I have made sure all the ENV variables are set, re-compiled everything and still get that same message.

I've looked on the planeshift forums and they have a few people getting some plugin not found errors like this that seem to fall on deaf ears.

I have an Athlon XP, running kernel 2.6.10-r2 with gcc 3.3.4-r1 (the one that came with the 2004.3 stage 3 install)

Those 3 plugin errors don't matter atm. Also, since today, the cvs is working again for me (updated cs, cel and ps) - it didn't for a few. Your error are cel related - be sure to update your mk dir and re ./autogen.sh, configure and jam ...

btw, check the forums, there is now a loki installer, if you like those kind of things. :P

Updating from cvs and all didn't help. But on the planeshift-forum they have found the problem. It seems that a file in the cel-cvs corrupt is. So you have to download the snapshot an build that instead.

The latest snapshot is on: http://cel.sourceforge.net/cvs-snapshot ... ot.tar.bz2

That fixed it for me.

Well, at least until I did reboot. Now it gives that errormessage from the same thread: "Could not find the mesh! Please run the updater"

But no updating helps.

I have gotten the Cal3d llibrary to build fine, but when I build "Crystal Space" by doing "jam libs" it compiles half the files and then just hangs forever with lots of harddrive thrashing. Is there someway I can skip cs_pyhto.o if it is not needed?

It's not needed. You could edit the jamfile and remove it. :?

thanks, found it in the jamconfig file and put "no" and it compiled fine. now I'm compiling CEL and the same thing happens when I get to:

Code: Select all

C++ ./out/linuxx86/optimize/plugins/behaviourlayer/xml/xmlscript.o
I looked in the jamconfig file, but I can't find anything about xml or behaviourlayour...how can I get around this? :x

Try tommorow, cel was borked, it should be fine by then. Python isn't needed, but this next looks as if it is, so I wouldn't go deleting it.

ok I think I have cel working now, but when I run the updater to get the art files I get this:

Code: Select all

linux planeshift # ./updater
Critical files (<critical>) not found (Server only)

Killed
From talking to others on irc, it seems that the first error "critical files..." always occurs and shouldn't matter, but I have no clue why it is killed then...

At my place it gets killed if it gets too intensive, but that is never the case with updater.

try running it in cli: updater -auto

Ok, now I found the cause of the mesh-problem.

The problem (with me at least) was that not all my envirement-variables were set correctly after rebooting. I had put CRYSTAL and CEL, etc... in .bashrc, but not LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
I exported it and it worked! So I have put that also in the .bashrc

So if you have that problem see to it that you place everything you should export also in .bashrc

(And ofcourse don't make the stupid mistake I once did by forgetting to replace "andrew" in the path with your name)
