I have the gentoo-dev-sources (2.6.9) and the touchpad and tapping worked all out of the box, I didn't even have to fiddle with parameters in the xorg.config.
Great
When I reboot my notebook (when running gentoo) and start windows, it appears that the touchpad is not working correctly anymore since the tapping doesn't work any more .
Now I am not sure that the problem has to do with Gentoo or linux, but it only happens when rebooting from linux to windows. If I shut it down and do a cold restart, there is no problem at all.
Is it possible that linux or the synaptics driver is somehow changing something (maybe in the BIOS) that is not being erased when rebooting that could cause windows to ignore tapping?
I have been unable to find any related topics or info since most of them talk about getting it to work in linux...
If I can help you guys with the content of some files or output of some commands, feel free to ask. (and don't ask me to just ignore the windows and use linux, it's not an option)
