SpamAssassin problems

I hope I've posted this in the right place.
One of my users is getting an error when the little sa-learn script I wrote runs. Here is the error

Argument "\001353996M-<q^?@" isn't numeric in numeric lt (<) at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.4/Mail/SpamAssassin/BayesStore.pm line 1267.

Now that line repeats itself about a dozen times then I get the Learned from X# messages.
Here is a copy of the script

sa-learn --spam --dir /home/diana/.maildir/.spam/cur/

Any ideas out there on what this might be?

Oh a side note, this is the only use which this error is happening to...

It might be related to a corrupt Bayes database, try to delete/recreate bayes files, see this thread :
