nvidia agpgart support?

  • Quote

Post by spitefulcrow » Thu Dec 30, 2004 4:00 am

I can't get the nvidia drivers to work in AGP mode in any form - nvidia agp, linux agpgart (module or built-in).
If I try using the Linux agpgart dmesg returns that the nvidia drivers couldn't initialize AGP when I start X. If I disable Linux agpgart support and tell Xorg to use nvidia AGP it does nothing and /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status says Disabled.
Has anyone figured this out?

What kind of chipset do you have? I have an ASUS board that has an awful ALI chipset that disables AGP for Nvidia cards! I had to use a different motherboard just to get AGP enabled for my 5700 Ultra card.

It's an Asus A7V880 (Via KT880 + Via 8237)...
I've turned all the AGP-related settings on in the BIOS and set the aperture size correctly (256MB). It's a Chaintech GeForce FX5500 256MB if you need to know that too.
