I want certain applications to auto start when I start kde, namely torsmo. Is there a particular config files responsible for this?

Open Konqueror and click on Go->AutoStart. In there add the file you want it to be executed everytime you start KDE

I read somthing about this before, though I'm not sure where to proceed from here. Basically I want to execute "torsmo &" from the command line every time I loginto my user account.

Most wm's are fine with you adding commands to your .xsession file in your home folder. If the file isn't there simply create it, enter "torsmo &" and save it.

I tried that before and I just re-tried it now. No luck.

If you want to get something into kde's autostart, do the following:

1) right click on your "K" (start) button and select menu editor.
2) add a new entry for torsmo wherever you want
3) click save
4) open your home directory in konqueror
4) select "autostart" from the "go" menu
5) left click your "k" (start) button and navigate to where you saved your new menu entry
6) click and drag this over to the konqueror session you opened and select "copy to" (or "move to" if you don't actually want the entry in your menu)
