Hi there,

i finally managed to get gensplash working using radeonfb driver and the emergence theme. BUT i get no progress bar during bootup. the silent splash shows up and i can switch to verbose, but there is no progress bar and no text telling "system booting..." or whatever it is supposed to be.

any ideas?

Check your /etc/splash/default/*.cfg file and make sure that it contains the following line:

Code: Select all

progress_enable=1

it seems the problem is not the theme I use, but gensplash itself. Every theme I tried had no progress bar.

solved. radeonfb and gen/bootsplash don't really like each other...

I can also verify this. I got garbled information at the bottom of the screen when radeonfb was compiled into the kernel. removing radeon and only adding in support for vesafb-tng was the only way everything worked correctly for me.
