All dependencies were ok, but now k3b fails with the following error (warning?!?):

Any idea how to fix that?

I've noticed on their web site that they say not to use 2.6.8. Maybe it applies to 2.6.9 as well. I'd send your error info to the k3b people.

Personally I can run k3b on 2.6.9, but I compiled it on 2.6.7 on gcc 3.3.4 (haven't had much luck with 3.4).

If you still have gcc 3.3, maybe you should try switching to that and see if you have better luck.

2.6.8 broke cdrecord, so it isn't a k3b problem. It should have been fixed in 2.6.9 though...

i don't have gcc3.3, but can i safely emerge it to compile k3b? I'm new to Linux/Gentoo.
Btw, i emerged the newest gcc, added "kde" to use flags and now it also tries and fails to compile kde-base. The funny thing is, that i use krusader (also a kde app) as filemanager.

Yes, you can.

It's the kde in your USE flags doing that. To see which package exactly, use the --tree option to emerge, which will show you a dependency tree of all the packages you're going to be installing.

kde compiled perfectly last night on a fresh install of linux 2.6.9 and gcc 3.4. This must have been some kind of fluke.

Did you also emerge k3b?!?
If yes, do you think i should rebuild my whole system? Would this help? If so, can you post the command? I could search the forum for it, but if you know it... ;-)

"rc" gave me the hint to reemerge kdelibs with "arts" use flags. Now k3b works! :-)
