no usb power to usb midi, help

Hi, I recently upgraded to an AMD 64 on an Asus K8N-E. I can't get my usb midi box working however. On boot up, there is a flash of all the lights, and then after that no light on the usb power led.

Can anyone give me a clue as to where I have mucked up the kernel config or what should be in there?

you need to ( if you hadn't ) add ~"support for usb sound" in your kernel to prooperly use these kind if devices .

If that's not the case then I don't know

The other option is that your USB socket controller is not convinced it should give that hing as much juice as it wants. Per definition a USB port should hand out 500mA at max, some offer more. If thats what your old socket did for that HW and the newer doesn't, then you see this behaviour, too.
