Hello,
I'm trying to install Gentoo on an old G3 iMac with 32MB of physical RAM (tight, I know.)
2004.1 wouldn't boot the CD. I received the error message: "RAMDISK: ran out of compressed data". I figured this was because the RAMDISK was too large to load into RAM.
So, I tried with an older version, 1.4. This time, the RAMDISK loads, the rootfs is mounted, but it hangs on, "Using /lib/modules/misc/cloop.o" The keyboard still responds, but nothing happens beyond this point.
Any ideas as to why this is happening, or perhaps another method of squeaking an installation through?
Patrick
