Can't compile kdebase-3.3.0

Post by Vanquirius » Wed Sep 15, 2004 2:58 am

Hello,

Recently kde-3.3.0 went x86-stable and I decided to upgrade from kde-3.2.3. I am, however, having problems to emerge kde-base/kdebase-3.3.0.

Here is the error I get:

Code: Select all

...

make: *** [all] Error 2

!!! ERROR: kde-base/kdebase-3.3.0 failed.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks,
Vanq

No solution

Post by Jux » Wed Sep 15, 2004 2:23 pm

Hello again

I've tried it several times now - still the same problem. I ve tried it with "-sandbox", I ve mounted a bigger device for /var/tmp. There are many threads about kde compile problems, but no suggested solution works for me.

really no idea ???

Thank you

@ Jux

Yours is failing with "gcc: s: No such file or directory". This is because the kdebase ebuild is filtering out "-fomit-frame-pointer" but since you've incorrectly got it as "-fomit-frame-pointers" (note the "s"), all that's left is the "s", which it chokes on.

Correct your CFLAGS to fix.
Sometimes the appropriate response to reality is to go insane.

I did an emerge -e kde and somehow it got fixed. Must have been some messed up library.
Thanks for your time.

I had the same problem.
As Regor said, the issue was the CFLAGS value :
-fomit-frame-pointer instead of -fomit-frame-pointers

How have Vanquirius and I got the same problem ?
Did the CFLAGS value change recently ?

My issue was some messed up library; I don't think it had anything to do with CFLAGS.
As far as I can remember (been a Gentoo'er for more than 2 years), it has always been -fomit-frame-pointer.

Yep Vanquirius, -fomit-frame-pointer is the right value.
I misunderstood Regor due to some lack of english (chokes on??)

I am busy trying the --emptytree option... 173 packages still to come.
Surely, it will fix that mess
